At Georgian College, our vision is to accelerate success through exceptional teaching and learning, innovation and partnerships.
We’ve been educating and training workers and leaders in Central Ontario since 1967, at our seven campuses located in Barrie, Midland, Muskoka (Bracebridge), Orangeville, Orillia, Owen Sound and South Georgian Bay (Collingwood). Today, we’re home to 13,000 full-time students, including 4,500 international students from 85 countries speaking more than 110 languages.
With a commitment to enriched learning through meaningful research and scholarship, we create opportunities for business and industry to collaborate with students, faculty, staff and mentors to tackle real-world challenges. Through transformative collaboration, our students receive the skills they need, the mindset to succeed, and the confidence to thrive. At the same time, our business and industry partners have access to the college’s top talent, resources and facilities to bring business solutions to life. The overall outcome is an increasingly prosperous economy built from a strong talent pool; new services, products, and startups; and a flourishing, globally competitive business network.
Georgian is MORE than an education – it’s an experience. We’re building a world-class research, innovation and entrepreneurship program. Over the past decade, we’ve opened three centres that have innovation and entrepreneurship as their core tenant: The Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC), the Department of Research and Innovation (R&I), and the Centre for Changemaking and Social innovation. We also have a growing number of faculty involved in scholarly and pure research activities.
The Department of Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RIE) was formed in July 2019, bringing together HBEC and R&I into a single department designed to grow the college’s capacity for scholarly research, industry-academic collaboration, and entrepreneur support. As one, the new department combines HBEC’s impactful business growth programming with the cutting-edge tools and talent of R&I.
